COVID-19 Closure Information

Given the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19,  Hamilton ISD school districts will extend the suspension of normal district operations through Friday, April 3rd in an effort to support our nation’s need to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread in the state. Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with local health officials, whether the virus is continuing to have community spread or whether it has been contained in our area. We will continue to coordinate with other school districts in the region and will use the week of March 30th to make any decisions on whether there is a need to extend the suspension further. To provide a sense of possible impact in order to help you prepare: If there is a
need to continue the suspension at that time, it would likely be for at least 3 more weeks beyond April 6th.

As an innovator and leader in educational technology, Hamilton ISD uses technology to enhance teaching and learning. We provide students access to the tools that are shaping our global society in order to match their learning needs, give students an authentic audience, and support learning and achievement. Hamilton teachers use technology as a communication tool to connect to families, the community, and the world. Teachers strive to infuse technology into each subject area and grade level. Teachers craft lessons that have students use technology and information for a genuine purpose as technology is not introduced for its own sake. Use of technology is part of the daily work for all employees to increase productivity, communication, and management and to model life skills for students. Hamilton’s thoughtful and productive use of technology makes our school a better place to teach and learn while preparing students to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
